Silica Concentrating Zone TLC Plates

Our Recommended Plate for TLC Applications for Manually Applied Samples

Sorbtech concentrating zone plates are based on the different properties of two adsorbents: an inert, diatomaceous earth concentrating zone, and an analytical, selective separation zone (silica).

Samples are arbitrarily applied within the concentration zone, regardless of the size, shape, or position of the spots. During development, the sample then concentrates within seconds as a narrow band at the interface of the two zones.

Our concentrating zone can serve as a clean-up step for analytes in complex matrices permitting the compounds to be selectively migrated from the diluent used.

Advantages of Silica Concentrating Zone TLC Plates:

  • Quick and easy sample application of small to large volumes of diluted samples
  • Increased resolution due to focused bands
  • Concentration zone can be used to purify and concentrate analytes from their diluent matrix
  • Highly facilitated, quick, and reproducible sample loading independent of user-to-user sample spotting technique
