Silica Gel Desiccant Spheres

Protect against moisture with a versatile, carefully formulated bulk silica gel

Silica Gel desiccant spheres are non-corrosive, non-toxic, and chemically inert.

It is a highly porous form of silica, with an extremely large internal surface area and an affinity towards the water and other polar compounds.

Will not change its size or shape. Even when the silica gel is water saturated, it remains free-flowing.

Available With:

  • With no indicator
  • With blue indicator (cobalt chloride)
  • With yellow indicator (phenol phthalein)

Blue indicator spheres turn pink upon reaching moisture capacity and yellow spheres turn blue-green. The yellow indicator spheres are non-hazardous, making them perfect for pharmaceutical and food products.

Other particle distributions are available.

Silica gel desiccant spheres are small, spherical beads that are used as a desiccant, or drying agent. They are made of a porous, amorphous form of silicon dioxide, which has a high affinity for water vapor. When placed in a container with a moist or humid environment, they will absorb moisture from the air and become saturated. This can particularly useful in applications where humidity may cause problems or contamination of the products.

Desiccant spheres are often used in a variety of applications to help protect against moisture damage. They are commonly found in packaging materials, such as food packaging and electronics packaging, to help keep the contents dry and protect against corrosion. Silica gel desiccant spheres are also used in a range of other applications, such as air conditioning systems, air dryers, and moisture-sensitive chemical reactions.

Silica gel desiccant spheres are a highly effective and low-cost way to absorb moisture and protect against damage caused by humidity. They are relatively easy to use and can be easily regenerated when they become saturated, making them a convenient and cost-effective option for many applications.
